4 Post Fairy Bed

Create a lovely fairy bed for use as a decoration or imaginative play.
The inspiration for this piece was a posting over at The Magic Onions. http://themagiconions.blogspot.com/2009/09/how-to-make-fairys-bed.html
Items used:
  • Popsicle or craft sticks
  • Silk flowers and leaves
  • Sea shells
  • Fabric paint or glitter glue
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Craft scissors
  • Clear acrylic spray (optional)

To make the bed, use the craft scissors to cut one of the sticks in half. Glue down 6 sticks to each piece of the cut half.

Glue down the the flower and leaves to the top fo the bed.

Glue a shell to each corner of the bed on the bottom.

To make the posts, use two sticks and glue a small conical shell about 1/2 inch from each edge so the open side is up. Put a stick in each shell and glue the stick to shell.

Glue a conical shell to the top of each post then decorate with fabric paint or glitter glue.
Glue the posts to the bottom of the bed. Spray with clear acrylic paint for protection from elements if using for an outside decoration.

DVD CASE TENT OR LEAN-TO

Turn at DVD case into a tent or lean-to for a fairy garden or small action figures. Items used:
  • DVD Case with plastic cover on front and back
  • Popsicle or Craft Sticks
  • Glue gun and glue sticks

Remove the paper insert from the case.

Start by inserting one of the sticks vertically lining up towards the top and then glue then lift of the edge down with the hot glue. Then insert a stick horizontally on the bottom. Continue then to insert sticks vertically until you get to the middle. Put another stick in horizontally at the bottom and push the other stick slightly out on the other side so each side has approximately the same amount of the stick peeking out on each side. Then continue inserting sticks vertically until the case is full, then lift of the last stick and use the hot glue gun to glue the stick to the case.

Repeat the above steps for the other side.

Popsicle Stick Barrel

This is a quick, cheap and easy decoration for a garden or imaginative play with a Barbie or G.I. Joe doll. Items used:
  • Tin can
  • Popsicle or craft sticks
  • Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
  • 2 thick rubber bands

If you are going to use the barrel outside, cut out the bottom of the can also.

Use a dab of glue on the popsicle stick to hold it to the can.

After you have a few sticks glued down, put the rubber band around bottom but a bit towards the center of the can and slide the remaining sticks around the can until all are in place.

Add a dab of glue to the underside of each stick (you will have to lift it up a bit) to secure it to the can. Slide the other rubber band on the can and adjust both so one is more towards the top and the other more towards the bottom.

DIY PAINTBRUSH

I couldn't find any of the many paintbrushes that I had purchased for a project I was working on this morning when I came across a popsicle stick and decided to do a DIY and it worked out pretty well.
Items used:
  • Popsicle Stick
  • Old sock
  • Glue Gun

Cut a strip off of the old sock. I made mine about an inch wide.

Apply Glue to the stick and attach one end of the sock strip then continue to wrap around the stick until you come to the end.

Attach glue to the end of the strip and glue it down and you are done!
