Hanging Ornament Decorated Bag

Super simple gift bag made recycling a paper bag and left over gift wrap or magazine pages and glitter glue

Items used:
  • Paper sack
  • Scraps of gift wrap or magazine pages
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Pen or pencil
  • Glitter glue
  • Round object
I used small paint bottle for the round object and drew around it on scraps of wrapping paper, cut it out, applied glue stick to the bag then stuck it on the bag at different points on the bag.

Use the glitter glue (I used silver) to make a small dot at the top of the ornament for the shank and then draw lines up to the top.  Allow to dry and it is ready for gift insertion.

5 minute T-Shirt to No Sew Skirt

Turn an old too large t-shirt into a skirt in 5 minutes or less!
(Note: I realize their stains on this shirt and plan on embellishing this project to cover them up - this is just to show how to make the skirt and you can embellish yours any way you want).

Items needed:

  • A too large t-shirt
  • Scissors
  • 2 yds or ribbon 1/4 in. ribbon
  • 2 safety pins
  • 4 beads (optional)

Lay out the T-Shirt on a flat surface.

Cut just underneath the arms straight across.

Flip the bottom part upside down, what was the bottom of the t-shirt will now be the top where you insert the casing.

Fold the T-Shirt in half to determine where to make the cut to put the ribbon.

Pinch the top layer make a small cut (but large enough to fit your ribbon through.)

Pin a safety pin into the end of one ribbon and thread it through the edge all the way around.

Try on the skirt and cut the ribbon the length that you want it to be if you want to (I didn't cut it on the above one and will probably just leave it that way).

Tie knots in the ends of both ribbons. Thread two beads on each saftey pin and pin into the knots to keep them from slipping back through and you have skirt to wear or embellish any way you would like.

PUZZLE PIECES PHOTO FRAME

I did not create this craft, I submitted the idea to familycrafts.about.com for the Monday challenge of what to do with stray puzzle pieces as it was a craft my son did when he was in early grade school and it was selected to be featured. (Pic is not mine, it is of Sherri Osbourn's creation at the following website as she created the idead that I submitted) http://familycrafts.about.com/od/puzzlegamepiececrafts/a/puzzleframe.htm Items used:
  • 4 Craft Sticks (or popsicle sticks that have been washed)
  • Puzzle Pieces
  • Photo
  • Tab From a Soda Can
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Glue the sticks together at the edges to make a frame.

Glue the puzzle pieces around the craft stick frame.

Trim the photo to the same size as the frame and then glue it to the back side of the frame.

Finally, glue the pop tab to the back to use as a hanger.

FELT EGG

I am making some felt foods for my great-niece for Christmas and found a pattern for felt eggs at the following site. http://melissagoodsell.typepad.com/day_to_day/tutorial---felt-food-eggssliced-orange/

Items used:
  • 1 piece White felt
  • 1 piece Yellow felt
  • Thread, yellow and white
  • Scissors
From the pattern cut out two pieces of white felt for the egg whites and 1 piece of felt for the yolk. You can get several "eggs" from 1 piece for felt.

I had stitched the "yolk" to the top of the egg, then hand stitched with a blanket stitch the two pieces of the egg together.

I am linking this to Helping Little Hands Felt Food Cook Along. I just came across this site and plan on joining in the the fun!
